Each OLA vase is carefully built by hand. I start by creating my palette of colors with clay I have stained specific formulated colors. I collage layers of shapes with clay and press the patterns into a larger slab of clay to create a unique surface (a process called inlay/ terrazzo/or nerikomi!). I then roll out, cut and form each slab into its final cylindrical shape, because of the process the pattern will always be a bit free form and the seam is intentionally left in a squiggle design to show the story of how the vessel has been made!

Each piece is made by hand and therefore no two will be exactly the same and the way the colored clay patterns look will all be a bit different (these are not painted on with glaze, it is the clay itself!) Please understand that because of the process there may be slight surface variations where the different clays meet each other, this will not effect the function of the piece and will not change over time.

The OLA vase features a beautiful 22k gold luster glaze stripe which makes a stunning shining metallic detail and a lovely contrast to the matte surface of the pot.

The interior of the vase has a clear glossy glaze while the outside is lightly coated with a clear satin-matte glaze
